The Fairtrade Clothes Show was held on Friday 30th September, thanks to the help and support of Garry Cooper, at the Milton Rooms, Rory Queen, our compere, and the music makers, James Poole at the piano and members of the Ryedale Folk Club.
It all kicked off at 5pm with a mad dash to get the hall arranged, with stalls, chocolate tasting, raffle and refreshments. Models tried on the clothes, organised wonderfully by two members of the group, rehearsed on the catwalk and then emerging in twos and threes, strutted their stuff down the catwalk. A range of fashionable Fairtrade clothes from Bishopston Trading and Black Yak (based at Driffield) were presented, together with those from M&S, Tesco, and other high street stores made from Fairtrade cotton .
Light refreshments followed with time to browse the stalls and enjoy the Folk musicians.. The raffle raised £70 and with the profit from the sale of tickets we are able to send £160 to Water Aid.
